Immigrant and LGBTQ Rights Groups Across California March and Rally to Demand Trans Women in Santa Ana Jail are Released by May 5th

 

Santa Ana- Community power won the termination of the contact between the City of Santa Ana and ICE!

 

In the past few months many grassroots, advocacy and legal organization have been advocating for the release of 30 trans women detained inside the Santa Ana Trans Pod and most of them have been released.

 

10 trans women, mainly asylum seekers, still remain detained and are facing medical neglect, verbal, physical and sexual violence!

 

YESTERDAY, MAY 2ND, ICE ANNOUNCED THEY WILL TRANSFER THEM TO NEW MEXICO ON FRIDAY, MAY 4TH INSTEAD OF RELEASING THEM TO THEIR SUPPORT, THE COMMUNITY! WE ARE DEMANDING ICE RELEASE ALL TRANS WOMEN TO THE LOCAL COMMUNITIES WHO CAN SUPPORT THEM!

 

Who: Resilience OC, Orange County Immigrant Youth United, Immigrant Youth Coalition, Las Crisantemas, previously detained trans women, community and family members

 

When: Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 5pm

 

Where: Rally and March will start at the Calle Cuatro Plaza on 4th and French St in DTSA. We will begin marching at 5:30pm to the Santa Ana City Jail.
